“God wants the whole person and He will not rest till He gets us in entirety. No part of the man will do” – A.W. Tozer
God wants us as a whole. All of us.
It’s like the end of the hokey pokey. You’ve got to put your whole self in. (I already regret writing this.)
Joking aside, God can’t stand not having every facet of our being devoted to Him and His will. We sometimes find ourselves wary about giving everything to God because of the enormous amount of faith and sacrifice that would take.
So brothers and sisters, since God has shown us great mercy, I beg you to offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him. Your offering must be only for God and pleasing to him, which is the spiritual way for you to worship. (Romans 12:1)
In Romans, Paul is urging the people of the Roman church to put everything that have at God’s disposal. Everything, physical and spiritual, mind and body, needs to be handed over to God. Our whole lives after this point become a holy partnership in which God uses us for His purposes, not only for the betterment of His Kingdom but for the betterment of ourselves.
If God is a pool, it’s easy for us to just dip our big toe into the water.
But God’s desire for us is to do cannon ball – to go all in so that nothing is left dry.
God wants what’s best for you more than you want what’s best for you.
Furthermore, God knows what’s best for you more than you know what’s best for you.
Handing yourself over to God is one of the best decisions you can make.
But it’s not easy.
It takes sacrifice.
Parents: Explain to your children how God wants every bit of them. Pray with them, asking God to take and use them as a whole.
