“God has gone before us so we can walk in the future He has for us.” – Priscilla Shirer
Do you realize that you have never gone anywhere, will go anywhere, done anything, or will do anything where God has not already been? God goes before each and every one of us and prepares a path for us.
Look at the Israelites:
They are fleeing Egypt. Pharaoh is hot on their tail. The Red Sea is coming up on the horizon. But, take note of what is just in front of them. Do you see what is leading the pack?
God as a pillar of cloud in the day and a pillar of cloud by night. He is going before them. He is preparing the way.
“Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people” (Exodus 13:22).
Nor will God leave His place in front of you. No matter where you go, God will be in front of you. He is preparing your future. He is an infinite number of steps ahead of you, working, planning, guiding, and moving.
“The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8).
This statement was as true for the Israelites as it is for you today.
Do not be afraid because God is ever faithful. He will not fail you. He had gone before you and He will be with you.
When you are about to share the Good News with a coworker, God has gone before you and has been working in their heart and mind. He will give you the words to say.
When you receive a phone call that carries bad news. God has gone before you. You may have been surprised by the news but God was not. He knows what you need and has already begun to work.
When you lose your job unexpectedly, God expected it. He has already gone before and prepared another job for you. He has prepared a path for you to get there.
God will never leave nor forsake you. He will always be with you. But, He will also go before you. So, do not fear or be discouraged.
God is preparing the way.
Parents: Explain to your children how God is going before them. Tell them that God knows what they will face in their future and He is already working and providing for them.
