Big Love

By: Pastor Jarren Rogers

“God wants to teach you what true love is, as you come to experience and understand His love for you.” – Billy Graham

Think about the love that a parent has for their child. Or maybe the love of a husband and wife. Or the love of a kid for their dog. Think about the most you’ve ever felt loved.

Think about the most you’ve ever loved someone. Think about that love that you have for someone that seems impossible. The love that says, “I would do anything for you. I would die for you. I love you so so much, I can’t even express it in words.” Think about that love.

Then double it. Then triple.

Multiply it times a million. No matter how much you magnify that love, you won’t even come close to being in remotely the same proximity of getting the simplest of ideas of how much the Creator of the universe loves you.

He loves you so much. He loves you more than anyone in this world could love you. He delicately, meticulously, knitted you in your mother’s womb. He counts the number of hairs on your head. He knows your past, your present, and your future. He understands your potential. He believes in you. He has a plan for you.

He loves you so much that you could never come close to understanding that kind of love in this life. That love that filled your chest when you saw your newborn baby for the first time is but a glimpse of Christ’s love for you. That love that brought a tear to your eye when you saw your wife, beautiful as ever, walk down the aisle on your wedding day, barely scratches the surface of the love that God has for His Bride.

God loves you so much.

Have you ever loved someone so much that you can’t stand being apart? The distance between you causes an almost physical pain, a longing to be together again.  That feeling can’t compare to the deep longing of God to bring His children back into relationship with Himself. His longing to be with us and His intense love for us caused Him to send His Son to die so that we could be forgiven.

For God so LOVED the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

That is big love.

That is God’s love for you.

Parents: Have a conversation with your kids about God’s love for them. See if they can wrap their minds around how big God’s love is.
